Anytime that we experience warm weather, it is inevitable that grilling outside cannot be far behind! Outdoor dining is a favorite pastime for many Americans and is something that we can all enjoy. One of the most important things about dining outdoors is to have a comfortable and relaxing area to enjoy your food. You will want to do your best to pick chairs that are comfortable for people to sit in for extended periods of time. Also be sure to set up some type of canopy. This can be very helpful if the sun is too hot or you start to get a bit of a sprinkle while you are enjoying your meal outdoors.

The menu is another very important thing when it comes to eating outside. You will want to have foods that are easy to handle and do not require a lot of utensils or extras. Keep it simple and delicious. Most people are happy with hamburgers or hot dogs on the grill.

Fruit salad makes a wonderful side dish. In warmer weather it is very refreshing, not to mention quite tasty to boot! Keep the creme brulee for another time when you and your guests will be dining inside the home.

For the Perfect Party, Bring Your Guests Outdoors

When the house just starts feeling too cramped, especially to invite over a whole bunch of guests, it’s time to start thinking about equipping your space for outdoor entertaining. It’s a great feeling to have everyone over, and an even better feeling when everyone has a good time. Some people like to create outdoor wonderlands in the backyards, while others prefer a few simple amenities. When thinking about how to get started on getting ready for outdoor entertaining this season, try some of the following tips and suggestions.

When the days get hot and long, everybody wants to cool off, and what better way to cool down than with a residential swimming pool. Every family has a budget, and pools come in all shapes and sizes from in-ground to above-ground, and can have features like waterslides and diving boards for added fun. This great home addition makes for fun outdoor entertaining for guests of all ages.

For those cold winter months, a great stand-alone, or addition to a residential pool can be a hot tub. Adults love it for the relaxing, sophisticated entertaining quality in small groups. Kids love a hot tub for the bubbly water, and of course the ability to jump in and out of the cold, refreshing pool!

Everyone likes someone that is providing refreshments and what better way to keep everyone fed and happy than with a barbeque! Some families go big with a large, stationary grill, while others prefer something small and mobile. Consider how much you will be using the grill, and how much you and/or your family really likes to cook. There is nothing wrong with being the kind of people that order pizza, but for sunny Sunday afternoons, during football games, or for sunset outdoor dining, there is nothing better than some home-cooked barbeque action.

Why stop with something to eat? Let guests have something to drink as well with a fun and functional outdoor bar. Even though the adults may have more fun with a selection of cocktails and wine and beer fridge, a bar equipped with electric can be great for kids too. Smoothies and sun can keep kids happy when entertaining outdoors- just be sure to lock up the liquor!

When it comes to outdoor entertaining, not everyone is comfortable out in the lawn. Get up and out of the dirt by building a home deck or patio. A home deck can be as small as the size of a table and chairs, or as large as to wrap around the home. Make sure there is plenty of space to sit down, eat, drink, relax and play, and enjoy an extension of your home in the form of a deck or patio.

To remind adults of their childhood days, and get kids to appreciate the wild outdoors, try installing a fire pit. Far from the days of gathering kindling in your scout troop, today fire pits come in classy, easy-to-use designs, and are just as useful for roasting marshmallows, telling scary stories, or enjoying food and drink with friends.

No matter what your style when entertaining outdoors it is best to consider the comfort of your guests first. If you live in a cold area, outdoor heat lamps might be a good idea. If where you live is warm, an area with lots of cool breezes or a pool may be in order. If mosquitoes and other pests are an issue, plan ahead with tiki torches or bug spray. Above all else, when entertaining outdoors it is best to make sure guests are happy, comfortable, and above all having a good time.
