If you are going to use the Topsy Turvy Upside Down Tomato Planter for your gardening needs this year then you need to read this first. Properly hanging your planter will make the difference between having a easy to care for tomato crop or a disaster on your hands.

Because the tomato planter will weigh around seventy pounds when it’s watered and you have a thriving plant hanging it properly is important and a bit tricky. You have to make sure that you have the proper support to hold your hanger up.

This is especially important if you have kids or animals as they both tend to get into things they are not supposed to. Making sure it is properly supported won’t be a problem as long as you do one of two things.

If you are only planning on using one planter then your best bet is to just go to your local hardware store and buy a more durable hook to hang your planter on. Make sure it can hold up to eighty pounds to give yourself a little leeway. This is a very inexpensive fix and will help your planter stay in the air where it is supposed to be.

The other method for hanging your Topsy Turvy Planter is for if you are planning on hanging multiple planters.

To hang multiple tomato planters you should consider building your own wooden frame. It will only take a few hours to make and you might even have all of the wood you need already.

Make the frame to be either a square or rectangular and put it in your yard. If it’s not perfect it’s alright. The plants grow towards the sun and end up covering most of the wood. When the plants are in full swing it’s going to look phenomenal.

If you don’t like the idea of just having a wooden frame in your yard or up against your house grab some extra paint you have laying around and give it a few coats.

Go ahead and spend a little time making the frame something your proud of. The planters last a long time so that few extra minutes will provide you with years of pleasure.

Make sure you read this if you are using the Topsy Turvy Tomato Planter this year. Failure to hang your tomato planter correctly will result in you not having an easy time growing your tomato’s.

Hanging the upside down tomato planter can be a bit tricky. You will need to make sure that you have a great support system in place because after the plant starts to grow and you have wet dirt the planter will get very heavy, around seventy pounds.

If you are using more them one planter there is a different way to go about hanging your Topsy Turvy.

If you are using more then one planter then you should consider building your own support system out of wood. Making a wooden frame should only take you a couple of hours to make and chances are you have the wood already.

Just build a nice sturdy square or rectangular frame to put in your yard. Don’t worry to much about how professional it looks because when the plants start taking off it is going to look very nice. Because the plants grow upwards it will not only cover a lot of the wood but it will be stunning to look at.

Go ahead and get creative with the decoration of the frame if you’d rather it not just be wood. Put some paint on it, be creative. You can either make it stand out as a focus of your yard or blend it in with it’s surroundings.

Go ahead and spend a little time making the frame something your proud of. The planters last a long time so that few extra minutes will provide you with years of pleasure.

One of the biggest things in home vegetable gardening right now is the Topsy Turvy Upside Down Tomato Planter. It says that you can have an abundant crop of tomatoes without all of the hassles that come with tomato gardening. No bugs, no collapsing stems, and the ability to easily harvest your vegetables but does it really work?

Find out for yourself with the pros and cons of the Topsy Turvy Upside Down Tomato Planter.

Pros– It hangs upside down so the weight of your growing tomatoes will not topple over your plant.

Cons– Even though it is hanging upside down the possibility still exists that the branches will turn into a tangles mess.

Pros- – It hangs off the ground so it frees up a lot of space in your yard.

Cons — Because it hangs upside down you will need to have a place to put it that has very good support. With all the dirt and water up on top, the Topsy Turvy Tomato Planter can get very heavy.

Another thing to look at is because the dirt is not in the ground you will need to water it much more frequently, about two times a day.

Pros– You are very easily able to walk around the plant to pick your tomatoes so that means that you wont have to bend down or crawl around on your knees to enjoy your crop.

Cons– When the sun hits the planter it can make the dirt very hot and can kill your plants. To avoid this you will need to place aluminum foil around the planter to deflect some of the light.

Pros– Watering the tomato plants could not get any easier. To avoid mold growing on the roots make sure that every week or so you run the water through the dirt until it’s clear to flush out any old water in the sponges.
