This lightweight edger worked well out of the box, but there is no way to tell on this page that it was built for users much shorter than I am. At 6’5″ it’s not very comfortable to work with.

It does not cut nearly as sharp an edge as a gas edger either. I took mine back to Lowes and got there 5 HP 4 cycle Model 554 Troy-Built for $250.00 and boy am I glad I did.

I have a couple hundred feet of edging on my front yard and I can do the whole job in maybe 20 minutes tops. It beats the heck out of trying to get a clean, even, straight job with a string trimmer. He uses it quite often which tells me that he is enjoying the use of this item. Otherwise he would put it aside and not use it as he has done in the past with the more expensive gas powered weed eater.

If you’re considering this unit, or any B&D product, be warned. This edger’ wide housing makes it difficult to see where to line up the guide to the concrete walk when edging the lawn. Actually parts in the area where you can change from edging to trenching slipped gears fell off! Sent it back and received another one that is great. It is very easy to use and works great on edging the flower beds. I’m glad I didn’t buy one of the noisy gas ones that were recommended at Sears. The key trick that I found for myself is to lift the right side up, press the trigger, start the blades humming and then slowly sink it at the right spot. This way, the thing holds and doesn’t budge left or right. The product description and features sound good, but it is not an especially good value. There is not sufficient weight in the base to keep the product from falling over from the weight of the handle.

Worked like a charm. Someone already mentioned NOT using this when the ground is really wet. It should really be larger. Once assembled, I was worried I would ruin my lawn as one commenter had lamented. If the edge guide happens to follow the concrete, the blade is spaced so far from it, that it doesn’t catch everything and you have to go back and forth over it until you randomly get it. Great power that delivers the clean edge you want on your lawn.

There were a few areas that he had to go over again, but it did a wonderful job on the first past. It is relatively light and easy to use. Purchase at a local retail store and used approx. a dozen times over the last 2 years. Creates fantastic edges, all my neighbors want to know how I did it. One thing I have learnt though is to keep edging as often as you can.

Since then I’ve had clean lines and works easily! leather coffee table.

If your goal is to have an elegant garden, there are plenty of methods to follow so you can achieve this. There is much fun and much work involved in gardening. Here are some tips for making it less work and more fun!

Gardening is a really great hobby for children, allowing them to bond with a parent. Children will love the process of choosing plants to get for the garden. They think that it is a great thing to have permission to be dirty, especially if it is with their parents.

Every garden can benefit from a planting calendar. This calendar allows you to plan ahead for each planting season. It can be helpful to prepare in advance so you know which seeds to buy and when. You might want to create your calendar on paper so you can refer to it easily, or you could use a program on your computer to create and store it.

If you want your garden to be off-limits to your dog, spray a scented perimeter around it using things like old perfumes or aftershave. This covers up the smells that bring dogs to gardens in the first place, which means dogs are less likely to enter the garden.

Plant heather to attract beneficial insects. Bees love heather, and it’s one of the earliest sources of nectar for the bees when they emerge during springtime. Heather beds are common grounds for helpful insects such as spiders and ground beetles, because they don’t usually get bothered by human activity. Protect yourself from being surprised by these bugs by donning gardening gloves before disturbing your heather beds.

Get the most out of what you have, and your property. Improving your landscape is one of the best ways to get a high return from your house. Investing in plants can raise the value of your property by 20%, or sometimes even more. Select plants and shrubs that won’t require a lot of ongoing maintenance and will adapt well to your climate.

One particular plant should be the focal point of your garden. Your focal point will be the main center of attention for anyone who sees your garden. More often than not, it is a plant that is distinctively different from its neighbors.

As previously mentioned, becoming a skilled gardener is not difficult as long as you know what to do. Creating a beautiful garden will be a cinch for you after reading this article and following the tips provided.

I receive my package on time. I would have rather the shipping company or someone have boxed or wrapped the package but all in all it was a good experience. He says it is much nicer and easier to use than his old gas-powered edger. There you have it. Easy to clean up and place back on the wall storage hook next to all my other fun yard tools. The orange color matches my Husqvarna too!

It’ll save you time and travel, minor grief and heartburn despite any few dollar differences. I have had this for less than 6 months.

I was concerned an electric edger wouldn’t have the power to handle it, but there was more than enough power. The unit is very quiet too. Got ours a few days ago, and went to work. We have Zoisa in our front yard. It had a tough time with cutting through areas where sod had grown over the walk. I had to use an edging spade to prepare the way for the edger. Purchased to replace 30 year old B & D Edger – easier to use and great for sidewalks (you don’t need to carry it like string trimmers). It was total waste of time and money when I found that it was just not better than an electric toy. I had expected the edger to cut the grass cleanly. If you don’t want to deal with gas-powered edger, this is THE ONE.

This year, I finally made the purchase and have been completely satisfied with how this edger has helped make my gardening projects a breeze. I haven’t used this as a trencher yet, but can see the possibilities in the future for lighting installation, trenching and fence installation. Trimming them is a challenge that the B&D edger handles quite well. Some escape the first slice, but backing over them usually wins the battle.

Received Black & Decker LE750 edger and it worked just fine. Had no problems at all and it will do a good job for driveway edging.

It was purchased for me for my birthday (yeah I really did want this for my birthday). This past Sunday was nice so I decided to see how well this would do on edging my lawn. The edger does a great job where the edge of the sidewalk is vertical. Where the concrete is slightly tilted or curved, it does a reasonable job. Spend more time with the wife and kids by getting this tool! I have had this edge hog for a couple of years–and haven’t written a review on same.

Easy to use, multi-purpose…a bonus with the trencher and it works right. Precast Retaining Wall.

If you’re a wannabe gardener living in an apartment or a property with no garden space perhaps get a few plant pots or containers to get started. You can position them on your ledge, on kitchen surfaces or in your backyard. The total situation will be prettier and so much nicer.

Obviously they’re also movable so you may re-order them as frequently as you want. Just remember the likes & non-preferences some flowers have. For instance do they want uninterrupted sunlight or partial shade? Also if you aspire to cultivate distinctive varieties of plants you can alter the soil for the type that is best for them.

Why don’t you aim for the interior design look with your pots as a stunning part of the design. You can place them at various levels from floor to ceiling. As long as the fixings are robust enough you can hang plant pots from the ceiling. So you still benefit from the plants without using up floor space. That could allow you to produce a range of colours.

At a practical level you will need to spend some time & effort on maintenance. They will require watering more often but that is a minute price to pay for the extra color. Do not make the mistake of adding too much water to your plant pots. That could harm them as much as too little water.

If you need to stop your flowers from getting too tall or spread out then put them in smaller containers. It will limit the roots and consequently the dimension of the flowers without upsetting it or affecting the colors and leaves.

When you have to move then all your containers may come with you in the removal van. Which, of course, isn’t possible with your garden. Thanks to all the time & effort you’ve spent it’s great to not leave them behind. They will definitely brighten up the new house along with help you settle in and feel comfortable very promptly.

Thus take pleasure in gardening on a tiny scale with pots. You’ll uncover skills you never realised you had. The pleasure of watching growth from seed to budding flower is joyous.

If you lose your keys you should not panic ring the Bromley Locksmith when you want proficient service. Get the bedroom you dream of with black bedroom furniture .

Houseplants is a beautiful touch of green that’s not only soothing but that softens hard lines and glaring light in your home or office and it brings a little bit of nature indoors. They can even improve indoor air quality.

A natural way to decorate your home is with houseplants. If you take the proper care they can last for years and years. Here are some useful tips.

Try matching plants with light conditions. Varying in their light requirements are houseplants. Some prefer strong light found right next to a south-facing window. The soft morning light of an east-facing window is what others thrive in. For more information on choosing houseplants for various lighting situations you can speak with a gardening professional at your local home improvement store.

Quality potting soil should be used. Never use regular garden soil in containers and take note that good potting soil promotes healthy roots by providing a balance of proper aeration, nutrition and moisture-holding capability.

Water properly. When it comes to houseplants, frequent watering is required. Into the top two inches of soil, you should stick your finger. If you notice that it’s dry, then it may be time to water. Water thoroughly, so the entire rootball is wet and the excess water runs out the bottom of the pot. Root disease can be promoted if you leave standing water in the catch tray for more than a day or two so be careful.

Regularly fertilize. Most houseplants require frequent watering and this leaches nutrients out of the soil. Be sure to fertilize regularly.

Increase humidity and avoid drafts. Plants should be kept away from heater vents, doorways, or drafty windows. By setting plants on trays layered with small pebbles and filled with water, you can increase humidity. Or place them in naturally humid areas like kitchens or bathrooms (but only if there is adequate light).

The foliage must be kept clean. The light will be blocked and insect pests will be harbored because of the dust that accumulates on the leaves of houseplants. Wipe the leaves with a moist towel to clean them or in winter areas, you can take plants outdoors and hose them off.

Make sure to control insect pests. Aphids, whiteflies, mealybugs and scales are examples of insect pests and many of them can quickly get out of control on houseplants. Use an insect killing spray in order to keep them at bay. Some have two-way action which kills insects on contact and keeps on protecting for weeks.

Ponds do wonders for gardens.

Ponds do wonders for gardens.

Installing gardens ponds isn’t that easy, but if you have some experience in excavation and landscaping, then you can do it. You can buy a kit whole or piece by piece at home improvement stores, and you can also get construction information from there. There are a few important things to keep in mind, however, before beginning any outdoor project.

It might not be such a good idea to go on with this kind of project if you have allergies. Allergies can worsen with landscaping activities, but this may depend on the case. If you’re not up to the job, then get a contractor or a professional landscaper to add your garden pond.

Bee stings might even be sources for allergic reactions in some individuals. If you know this is a problem, you will either need to hire a professional or have your allergy medication on hand in the event of a sting. You can ask your doctor for a prescription if you explain your situation.

While outdoors, it is best to wear long pants and a long sleeve shirt. This is especially true if you are working in the evening hours, which is when many mosquitoes are out and about. Mosquitoes can be very harmful during certain times of the year. You will also want to be mindful of snakes, spiders and other problematic creatures when working outdoors.

If you opt for hiring a professional, you will need to shop around for the best estimate. When you’ve found a contractor or landscaper, check with the local Better Business Bureau and have everything in writing. You want an individual who has previous experience. With an experienced professional, you’re surer that your project will be done successfully. And finally, make sure that you choose a professional who stands behind their work and has been in business for several years.

New equipment such as glass laser are added daily.

There probably is not a woman alive, at least the ones outside the convent, who does not enjoy receiving flowers, not the least roses. They are an investment that you want to have last as long as possible. So here are some steps you can take to ensure they last.

For wrapped roses and greens, they can be arranged in a vase using this quick technique – take a bowl of warm water, then use a knife to diagonally cut off the ends underneath the water. You do it this way for two reasons. Here’s the rationale behind diagonal cuts – first, this would make sure the roses get the water they need, as they drink a lot and require a large enough opening, and second, cutting them underwater would prevent the possibility of air pockets blocking the aforementioned holes.

Better yet, place your roses in a vase of warm water, add some healthy flower food, and keep refrigerated for two hours. You’ll want them to drink well. In the absence of flower food, a spoonful of sugar and a few teensy drops of bleach will suffice. The bleach would be there to get rid of harmful bacteria.

If you’re not sure what to remove from the roses before placing them in a vase, you can remove some, but not all of the leaves below the water line, because the green part of the rose makes for a better, more colorful arrangement.

If you listen a lot to your florist, then she may have told you something totally different from this tip. She may have told you to get rid of those sharp, prickly thorns, but au contraire, we say – leave ‘em in there if they aren’t particularly large. There is a reason behind the rhyme, and that is removing the thorns is essentially wounding the rose stem. As a result, flowers tend to wilt faster than they do as they are further exposed to bacteria. If you have to take some of them off then take your thumb, put it on the side of the thorn and pop it off. This is the least invasive way to get them off.

You want to make a daily water change.

For pre-arranged flowers that you may have ordered, make daily water changes, feed them and perform a slantwise cut underneath. Check to see if any leaves are below the water line and remove.

Following the steps above could guarantee that your roses last considerably longer.

Stocked Having the right tools for a job is extremely essential, and this too applies to gardening. Millions of household maintain a garden. Gardening is an incredibly enjoyable activity, but if you don't want to end up sore, blistered or itching, it's important to be properly prepared before you begin. Here are some tools your garden shed could definitely not do without: Special First Aid Kit for Gardening. The most important thing in your shed is the first-aid kit for common garden emergencies including sunburn, bug bites, cuts, and poison ivy, oak or sumac. Poison ivy is a scourge for many a gardener because its itch, while not seven years in length, certainly feels that way. You could swear that the itch caused by these plants feels like a past lifetime's worth of itch, but having the right precautions can keep you safe against this threat. Poison ivy is a scourge for many a gardener because its itch, while not seven years in length, certainly feels that way. You could swear that the itch caused by these plants feels like a past lifetime’s worth of itch, but having the right precautions can keep you safe against this threat. They can be used to defend against an outbreak, help to prevent spreading and treat an itchy reaction.

Leather Gardening Gloves. While getting your hands dirty is fun, nothing beats a great pair of high-quality leather gardening gloves. The right gloves can protect hands from thorns, an unexpected bee or spider, sharp twigs or sticks and blistering.

SST – Shovel, Spade, Trowel Your back is as good as the shovel you use – either you use a good one and make everything look effortless, or you use a mediocre one and pay for it with your back. A good shovel is one that has both an extended handle and a flat ledge, giving you less back pressure and ample foot support respectively. What about the trowel? Find one with a wide, curved blade that fits comfortably in your hand.

Pruning Equipment The twin processes of pruning and deadheading never take a vacation. You want a set of bypass pruners that cut cleanly on the plant without damaging it one bit.

Use A Wheelbarrow Or Cart! Lugging heavy loads around your garden is a backache in waiting. A wheelbarrow or cart could save your back the agony and make carrying stuff a whole lot easier.

Watering Essentials. No garden shed would be complete without a hose – make sure it fits all requirements, such as a 5/8-inch opening, mesh layer reinforcement and kink resistance. It should handle 50 pounds per square inch of water pressure. Don’t be afraid to spend for added quality – hey, it’s just a garden hose, not a Rolls or some other fancy automobile! For areas your hose can’t reach, invest in a sturdy watering can.

A landscaping contractor can take care of the work involved into maintaining the external appearance of one's home if the owners are too busy to do so themselves.

A landscaping contractor can take care of the work involved into maintaining the external appearance of one’s home if the owners are too busy to do so themselves.

A licensed landscape contractor has been specially trained to meet all landscaping needs – whether for service purposes or cosmetic. Their expertise extends to driveways, patios and decks, yard grading and also landscape design. They are also able to install garden ponds with a bridge, play areas for children, and walkthrough gardens, and they can professionally add flowers, trees and shrubs that can improve the overall appearance of the area.

What kind of benefits does a landscaping contractor provide?

Similarly to all other professions, landscaping also calls for professionals to be specialized in a specific area in their field. For instance, hire an experienced landscape lighting contractor to install outdoor lighting features. Such a contractor would be an expert in selecting different types of lighting and he would be able to suggest different techniques that would work best in the space you have.

Few homeowners are savvy as to the best way to enhance landscape features using contour lighting, uplighting, grazing, moonlighting, or backlighting techniques. A licensed landscape contractor, however, knows how to exploit the benefits of these type lighting features.

Landscaping ideas

If you don’t have much time to dedicate to yard work, hiring a landscaping contractor who can design an easy-to-care-for plan is the way to go. Mower-friendly lawns devoid of grass peninsulas and islands that slow down mowing, and require lots of turning and maneuvering. You can choose a low water landscape design with many drought-tolerant plants and ground cover, so you don’t have to worry about watering often.

A landscape contractor who’s familiar with a technique called “forcing the perspective” can do miracles with a small yard. Angling plants toward each other, extending to the rear of the landscape. This will visually enhance the yard and it will make it appear longer and more spacious.

The Right Landscaping Contractor for the Right Job

A good licensed landscape contractor can indeed make an amazing difference in improving the overall appeal of your home, making the home itself more desirable in the real estate market. But of course, you need to select the right contractor for your needs.

Some licensed contractors are better at correcting problems with the landscape and at adding floral touches to improve the appearance of the yard. Other contractors might be better for other projects such as concrete driveways, walkways, and even creating a landscape perimeter through custom edging.

A construction contractor landscaping expert might be best for building a raised deck, split-level patio, or a number of other functional outdoor projects.

Word of mount referrals, local licensing authorities, and Internet resources such as www.handycanadian.com are your best resources for finding a qualified landscaping contractor in your area.

Finding the perfect landscaping contractor for your needs is key to adding value to your home.

People have endless reasons why they have a vegetable garden hobby. Some people say it soothes them. Home-grown crops appeal to other people. Others get satisfaction from knowing that they know where some of their food is coming from. No matter what your reasons for wanting to take up vegetable gardening, it’s a very rewarding hobby.

Some people choose to sell their crops to make some money. You can sell your vegetables to markets, stands, and health food shops.

You should decide on the size of your garden before you start it. You shouldn’t be too offhand when it comes to buying the vegetables.

Make a list of the plants you want to have first. Write down anything that comes to mind. Worry about the details later.

After finishing the list, you’ll have to make a few cuts. The first step to narrowing your list down is to eliminate anything that you can get locally at a reasonable price. Potatoes and cabbage, for example, are usually very inexpensive in most locations.

Then you should eliminate anything that you can get locally that won’t see a significant improvement in flavour over the store-bought version. Whether they come from the grocery or from your garden, some varieties of vegetables not differ in their taste.

What you want to have on your list is the produce you can’t get locally, is generally too expensive to purchase, or would taste significantly better when grown in your own garden. Herbs, for one, are a good addition to any garden since they’re so expensive in groceries.

You might want to grow tomatoes because it can be extremely difficult to find tomatoes that taste good in stores. Lettuce are a good addition too, since some varieties are pricey and are rarely stocked in groceries.

A garden can be too much to handle for some folks. Much manual labour is needed. It can be very relaxing, but it can be back-breaking work in unbearable heat. You have to contend with dirt, bugs, heat, bending, lugging, pulling, hoeing, and weeding.

Working in a garden that’s too large for you won’t make you enjoy it anymore. You could get tired of your hobby in no time at all. Gardening is tiring work, so you should take time to choose those crops that are rare to find in stores and those that you will surely love taking care of.

If you only eat peas once per month, don’t plant a whole row! There are no required plants in gardens, so just plant what you want. There are some gardeners who plant crops just because they look attractive.

Think over your choices carefully. It’s tempting to plant one of every variety of tomato, or six different kinds of peppers. Sure they’re pretty to look at, but be practical.

Any occasion is a special occasion. Celebrate the moments in your life with fashionable personalized party invitations or stylish printable birthday party invitations that will make a lasting impression.
