Creating A Peaceful Garden Of Perennials

by Heather Christman

Having a lovely and beautiful flower garden is one of the great joys in life. Gardens are beautiful and tranquil places and can bring you much joy and happiness. But it isn’t always easy getting the results that you want when you are gardening. Here are some steps in making your garden gorgeous.

Get the right plants for your garden space.

Perennial gardens are great. They take a little more money upfront to get established, but because your plants come back year after year, you will find that they will reward you for many years to come. When establishing a perennial bed you want to make sure you get plants suited for your zone, as well as ones that will bloom at different times of the season.

This is not as hard as it sounds. Shopping at a local nursery will pretty much ensure that you get perennials that are hardy for your area of the country, and just looking at the labels will tell you the bloom times.

If you would rather not do all that work, a good alternative is to buy a premade garden map. These maps are created by zone, and will tell you exactly what plants to buy and where to put them. They make laying out a garden super easy.

Don’t forget about the fences, statues, and paths.

When you are planting a garden it is easy to get focused on just the plants, but adding other elements can really make your personality shine.

The pathways, garden fencing, and statues you use in your garden can help you to create the look you want. You can get an Asian look by using polished river rocks, minimalist plants and a Buddha statue. For a cottage type of garden use climbing perennials, statues of children, and white picket edging. The choices are virtually limitless.

Please remember to water.

It is easy to kill a garden when it is not watered enough – or if you water too much. One of the easiest ways to get enough water to your garden is to use a soaker hose, and just leave it on for an hour or so every 2 to 3 days depending on your weather.

Topsy Turvy Upside Down Tomato Planter: How to Properly Hang Your Planters

by Christine Pinkston

If you are going to use the Topsy Turvy Upside Down Tomato Planter for your gardening needs this year then you need to read this first. Properly hanging your planter will make the difference between having a easy to care for tomato crop or a disaster on your hands.

Because the tomato planter will weigh around seventy pounds when it’s watered and you have a thriving plant hanging it properly is important and a bit tricky. You have to make sure that you have the proper support to hold your hanger up.

This is especially important if you have kids or animals as they both tend to get into things they are not supposed to. Making sure it is properly supported won’t be a problem as long as you do one of two things.

If you are only planning on using one planter then your best bet is to just go to your local hardware store and buy a more durable hook to hang your planter on. Make sure it can hold up to eighty pounds to give yourself a little leeway. This is a very inexpensive fix and will help your planter stay in the air where it is supposed to be.

The other method for hanging your Topsy Turvy Planter is for if you are planning on hanging multiple planters.

To hang multiple tomato planters you should consider building your own wooden frame. It will only take a few hours to make and you might even have all of the wood you need already.

Make the frame to be either a square or rectangular and put it in your yard. If it’s not perfect it’s alright. The plants grow towards the sun and end up covering most of the wood. When the plants are in full swing it’s going to look phenomenal.

If you don’t like the idea of just having a wooden frame in your yard or up against your house grab some extra paint you have laying around and give it a few coats.

Go ahead and spend a little time making the frame something your proud of. The planters last a long time so that few extra minutes will provide you with years of pleasure.
